Now may the God of patience and encouragement grant you to be like-minded with one another in the manner of Messiah Yeshua … Romans 15:5, TLV
Uh Oh! Finish This Sentence! Today’s verse is missing an important part of the message — the second half of the sentence. How about we add the rest:
… so that together with one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. (Romans 15:6, TLV)
There. That’s better. It’s not simply a Godly thing to be patient with one another, or be like-minded, this is once again about following Yeshua’s example so that — like Him — we can glorify His Dad. When we follow Jesus and His ways, we worship our Heavenly Father.
There’s something else, and one of the reasons I felt we should add the rest of the sentence, it’s that word, “together.” And for that matter, “like-minded” too. Because Paul again is extrapolating from Yeshua’s prayer for unity in John 17. It is that unity that will glorify both Yeshua and His Father. In that unity, the Holy Spirit can work miracles within us and all around us.
Is it any wonder the enemy of our souls seeks to divide us.
How about today we exercise our unity muscles. Let’s begin with patience and encouragement and gratitude with those around us. That’s a good place to start, right?
