The righteous eats to his heart’s content, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry. Proverbs 13:25, TLV
What Do We Crave? Wealth? Peace? Possessions? Health? Power? Love? Fame? Honor? Justice? Mercy? Chocolate? The Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah, October 2nd) is approaching. Like the Gregorian calendar New Year, it is a time of reflection and goals.
What is different about the Jewish New Year is that its primary focus is spiritual. Forgiveness. Repentance. Spiritual maturity. Wisdom. Jewish people spend the month before preparing their hearts.
As we think about our goals for 5785 CE—2024-2025 AD—how will we measure those goals in comparison to what God wants for us? Do we know what God wants for us?
As believers in Jesus –Yeshua, the Messiah to the world — we are built to not only produce, but crave the fruits of the Spirit:
But the fruit of the Ruach [Spirit] is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22, TLV
These fruits we can “eat” to our heart’s content.
Finding the Piece and Peace
Everyone, I believe, came into this world with a missing piece of our soul. A piece that when filled, changes our destiny. It’s like a keyhole that unlocks our true identity — our God-given destiny.
Without unlocking that door, our life is spent wandering the world, creating the best life we know how based on circumstances and earthy desires. Always hungry for something we can’t identify. Craving but never satisfied.
The same applies to those who have unlocked the door, but, for whatever reason have yet to walk through to their destiny. They’re stuck outside — close, yet so far.
When the Holy Spirit unlocks our door — and we walk through – He opens the eyes of our heart to new vistas in God’s Kingdom where there is plenty for all.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Messiah. Ephesians 1:3, TLV
Wouldn’t we want to share this key with others? Share the wealth that all can partake of? Where no one goes hungry for the things of God? How amazing is that?
Think More About It
What are the “fruits” you crave? Are there obstacles keeping you from partaking?
Until tomorrow, may we eat to our heart’s content, my friends.
But his delight is in the Torah [the Law] of ADONAI [the LORD],
and on His Torah, he meditates day and night.
He will be like a planted tree over streams of water,
producing its fruit during its season.
Its leaf never droops—
but in all he does, he succeeds. Psalm 1:2-3, TLV
Sigh. There’s so much in this passage, but I’d like to focus on the streams of water that produce fruit and protect that tree from dying. Shall we pray for that Living Water to flow into the hearts of the Jewish people? For all our brothers and sisters in Messiah? Yes. God bless you and Shabbat Shalom!
