Trust in ADONAI [the LORD] forever,
for the LORD ADONAI is a Rock of ages. Isaiah 26:4, TLV
What is Forever? Trust in the LORD forever. Forever. What does that even look like? Our finite minds might try to imagine eternity, but because our brains are finite, well, you know, it doesn’t quite work. So, when Isaiah exhorts his brothers and sisters, and his country, to trust ADONAI forever, you have to wonder. As a prophet has the LORD given him insights into eternity?
What would that be like? We look up into the heavens, use high-powered telescopes, apply mathematical equations, and still, we can’t conceive of the expanse of space — and that’s merely a creation of the LORD.
Yet, as redeemed children of the Most High GOD, eternity is within us.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Moreover, He has set eternity in their heart—yet without the possibility that humankind can ever discover the work that God has done from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11, TLV
We may not understand all our Father’s ways, but we work
to remember to trust in the LORD each and every day, bringing us one day closer to understanding forever. How? Because of the work of His Son, He has given us eternity with Him and by His Holy Spirit. And we don’t need a high-powered telescope or equation for that.
Think More About It
Do you ponder eternity? What does that look like to you?
May we trust and look forward to eternity with Him, my friends.
Praying for Israel—Prayer Prompts
Guide me in Your truth, and teach me,
for You are God, my salvation,
for You I wait all day.
Remember, ADONAI,
Your compassions and Your mercies—
for they are from eternity. Psalm 25.5-6, TLV
I just watched a reel of a wedding party dancing with others in a bomb shelter as another barrage of missiles descended upon their wedding venue. It struck me that despite the violent interruption in their festivities, they also witnessed GOD’s compassions and mercies. And with that, they celebrated. In that stark shelter, they witnessed the eternal of love, joy, and hope. Pray this passage with me, my friends? Amen!
