A blessing on your head . . .
TODAY’S PROVERB: Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. Proverbs 10:6
There’s something precious about laying a hand atop a child’s head and speaking a blessing. Jewish parents have performed this beautiful tradition for thousands of years when they celebrate the Sabbath in their homes.
Sometimes a child may be unruly and has a difficult time receiving the hand — perhaps even the blessing itself. We wonder if the blessing ever arrives at its destination.
It stands to reason, it might be a good idea to train up our children. Not only in the way in which they should go, but to understand the concept of receiving our Heavenly Father’s blessing. To stand still long enough to connect with the blessing — that moment of connection.
Our Heavenly Father loves blessing us. We’re His kids. Being present in that moment of contact so we can listen and receive enables us to fully embrace this miraculous moment. It’s the place of joy and thankfulness. It’s the moment of connection. It’s the Sacred — Secret — Place.
These moments can happen when we read the Bible, meditate on a passage, take a walk and feel the sunshine. It’s the intentional time of listening for His voice, and waiting for His hand on our head.
May we still ourselves to receive all that our Father longs to give us, my friends.
