Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 10:20

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs, My Writing Journey

Does your speech hold value?

TODAY’S PROVERB: The tongue of the righteous is choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little value. Proverbs 10:20

The tongue is capable of such amazing things (Isaiah 50:4):

“Adonai Elohim has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning. He awakens My ear to give heed as a disciple.”

The tongue is capable of such harm (Isaiah 3:8):

“…For their tongue and their actions are against Adonai, defying the eyes of His glory.”

How do we use our tongue? Does our speech give value or does it rob?

We have the words of eternal life (John 3:16)!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

We know the miraculous, healing power of words. Words of hope and reconciliation. So, it is our responsibility to measure our words against that value. Season those words with prudence and the precious attributes of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Anything less holds little value.

May we speak with value, my friends.

And, PS, Happy Birthday to my wonderful hubby whose speech has much value.
