Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 10:31

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Today’s Blog: What kind of fruit do you bear?

TODAY’S PROVERB: The mouth of the righteous bears the fruit of wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out. Proverbs 10:31, TLV

Our proverb today brings up the image of feeding others with wisdom. Giving others the fruit of the Holy Spirit’s work in us is one of those great blessings a child of the Most High can experience.

That’s why our words are so important. They are either a delicious reflection of what our Heavenly Father is doing in our life, or a heart left to its own devices.

Here’s a question . . .

Here’s a question: Is it possible for a fruit vine or tree to have rotten fruit as well as good fruit? If you’ve ever grown anything that produces edibles, then you know it can. Bad fruit can alert us to problems. Insects. Mold. Disease.

Yuck! Who would want to eat that?

The same applies for us. Reckless words can undo the sweet taste of wisdom. Losing our integrity can destroy a whole harvest. Bitterness can do the same.

If we notice a few pieces of “fruit” in our life have “worms” or “disease,” it’s time to check for heart issues. Do we need to forgive someone? Repent? Spend more time in GOD’s word or in prayer?

Let’s root out whatever is keeping us from producing good fruit. And the best way to do this? Is time spend time with the best gardener in the universe — He should be, He’s the Creator of it.

May we bear the fruit of wisdom, my friends.
