Heed Wisdom’s Call . . .
TODAY’S PROVERB: Wisdom calls aloud in the streets, she raises her voice in public squares. Proverbs 1:20, TLV
Boy, time flies! Time to roll back the Proverbs scroll for June. Most schools are closed for the summer and children are looking for things to do. So, that means we may have less opportunities for quiet times with our Creator. That’s why I love the Proverbs. We can get a high dose of God’s wisdom in a short frame of time. Whether it’s new revelations, reminders of practical wisdom, or deeper insights into what we’ve known, Proverbs packs a lot of lessons in a small package.
Today’s proverb reminds us that God’s wisdom calls to us each and every minute of the day. The Bible says she cries out above the commotion.
In today’s noisy world, searching for and paying attention to that single voice can be difficult. It helps to recognize the LORD’s voice (John 10:14-16) from the others around us. It’s important to pay attention to that still, small voice (1 Kings 19:12) when wisdom decides to not compete with the cacophony and speaks in a manner that God’s children will recognize.
All this is possible when we take the time to learn wisdom’s call. Because when we know that call we’ll be able to follow God’s path. And that’s a good thing.
May we heed wisdom’s call, my friends.
