Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 1:20

Today’s Blog: Can You Hear Her?

TODAY’S PROVERB: Wisdom calls aloud in the streets, she raises her voice in public squares. Proverbs 1:20, TLV

It’s time to roll back to Proverbs chapter one. We finished our first month of 2020, and there have already been so many — too many — historic events. How will they affect our future? Only our LORD knows. However, we can make sure to stay attuned to Wisdom’s call. Continuing to abide in wisdom means we will receive new revelations, deeper insights, and reminders of His truths. I have a feeling we’re going to need this in the months ahead, how about you?

One of the deeper insights I would like to have is discernment. To operate better hearing the Holy Spirit’s guidance and understanding in real matters that will affect me, and my family, and loved ones. Kind of like the sons of Issachar.

. . . from the sons of Issachar—men who know how to interpret the signs of the times to determine what Israel should do—200 chiefs with all their kinsmen under their command . . .

1 CHRONICLES 12:33, TLV

When David was in hiding in Ziklag (in the Negev desert) from the unstable King Saul, a group of the king’s warriors defected to support David (1 Chronicles 12). They knew that David should be king, not Saul. How did they know? I wonder, did the sons of Issachar receive that discernment? Did they then pass that revelation on to the other tribes of Israel, thereby motivating them to act?

Who are we to make a difference?

We may not be in positions of power and leadership that can affect a groundswell of change and action, however, we can make an impact in our families, our neighborhoods, congregations, and communities. As we seek wisdom daily, diligently — as we abide in the most obvious resource of wisdom given to us — we can hone our wisdom, discernment, knowledge, and understanding.

February even has an extra day for us to squeeze in as much revelation, insight, and reminders for this month, and that we can also use in the years to come. And that will only happen if we heed the call of Wisdom.

May we heed the call to Wisdom, my friends.
