Today’s Blog: What’s Your Harvest?
TODAY’S PROVERB: A backsliding heart partakes of its ways and a good man is rewarded for his. Proverbs 14:14, TLV
Our proverb today reminds me of the concept of sowing and reaping. What we sow into something we will reap. In this verse, someone who backslides in their faith to partake of whatever temptation draws them away, will ultimately reap a corrupted harvest. Why? Because it is simple physics — cause and affect. What we put into the ground or relationship or family or ministry, we will harvest.
Did you know we are sowing everyday? The question is: What are we sowing?
“Do not be deceived—God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also shall reap. For the one who sows in the flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But the one who sows in the Ruach [Spirit] will reap from the Ruach eternal life. So let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good toward all—especially those who belong to the household of faith.”
PAUL, GALATIANS 6:7-10, TLV [EMPHASIS MINE]
Did you see that? “Whenever we have an opportunity.” We are also given some clues about sowing — what we sow when we’re in the spirit.
“But the fruit of the Ruach is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Messiah have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
PAUL, GALATIANS 5:22-24, TLV [EMPHASIS MINE]
Fruit seeds grow fruit. Not stinkweed or green beans. If the ground is fertile and ready to receive the sowing, a great harvest is possible. And even if the ground isn’t fertile, there’s a greater harvest awaiting us for what we sowed in the Spirit. An eternal harvest.
May we sow in the Spirit, my friends.
