Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 14:7

Today’s Blog: Following a Fool?

TODAY’S PROVERB: Walk away from a fool—for you will find no knowledge on his lips. Proverbs 14:7, TLV

Ever participate in a foolish conversation? How long did it take before we came to that realization?

A “fool” is the opposite of someone who is wise or prudent. How they view the world may seem whimsical and naive or innocent, but that view can be at best distracting, at worse dangerous.

We expect children to behave foolishly, but adults modeling these behaviors can pull us into a time-consuming mess.

Living a wise life we seek GOD’s will by seeking His Word and Voice. By living this way, our discernment becomes attuned to foolishness and those who “fool” us into engaging in it.

When our discernment flags raise, as diplomatically as possible, walk away. We don’t have to be arrogant — simply excuse ourselves and go.

Perhaps — like us — the fool can learn and turn toward the Author of wisdom, our Heavenly Father. Studying and living His word enables us to avoid those foolish behaviors. So, if we can learn, so can others.

May we walk away from foolish encounters, my friends.
