Today’s Blog: H, E, DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS

TODAY’S PROVERB: The path of life leads upward for the wise to keep him from going down to Sheol. Proverbs 15:24, TLV

We don’t like thinking and talking about Hades — H, E, DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS. The further we travel this Wisdom and Faith Journey, the farther we are from that gaping maw of death and separation from our loving, Heavenly Father. We live in the now — not in the past — and our future is the eternal with our Abba. Right?

Of course it is. But, can our “now” also include the reality of our past? Why would that be important? Because the farther we travel away from our past, the more possible it is to forget the power of our salvation story. Within that salvation story is the root of gratitude and humility.

The enemy of our souls wants to drag us back to guilt and shame, but the Holy Spirit wants to remind us of the miracle of GOD’s great love for us. The wonder of His hand pulling us from the muck and mire, cleaning us, and wrapping us in His Son’s robe of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10, Zechariah 3:4).

All of this compels us to grab hold of as many souls as we can with this saving message of hope and redemption.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

JOHN NEWTON, FORMER MASTER SLAVE SHIP, PUBLISHED 1779

Yes, we are wrapped in Yeshua’s robe of righteousness, but underneath, it’s still us. Us, in the constant state of changing into the Owner of that robe.

Yes, we are farther away from Sheol each day, but as we remember why, let us also remember those who are still on the path to Sheol. Let’s take as many along with us as we can.

May we grab as many as we can, my friends.
