Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 15:33

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Today’s Blog: Spirit is willing . . .

TODAY’S PROVERB: The fear of Adonai is the discipline of wisdom, and humility comes before honor. Proverbs 15:33, TLV

I saw a post on Facebook the other day. It posed the question, “Could you wash the feet of someone who hurt you?” As I thought about it if I tried to picture actually doing it — getting on my knees, staring up at them, remembering — I honestly didn’t know if I could. Because, even though my spirit is willing, my flesh keeps getting in the way (Matthew 26:41; Mark 14:38).

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.”

C. S. Lewis, Born: November 29, 1898, Died: November 22, 1963

Really, as this proverb states, it’s all about the LORD. He is the beginning and the end of our pursuit of wisdom. The foundation on which we build our journey. He is our guide as we travel. And our comforter when we fail and life becomes tough. How can He not be our joy? Wouldn’t we do anything for Him?

Know this, walking this wisdom out daily keeps us humble and grateful — and reminds us we are so loved. Remembering what Jesus did for us, that should alter our state of being, shouldn’t it?

So, should the occasion arise that we wash the feet of that person or persons, perhaps we can do it as unto our Savior.

“And answering, the King will say to them, ‘Amen, I tell you, whatever you did to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”

JESUS, MATTHEW 25:40, TLV

May humility be our discipline, my friends.
