Today’s Blog: Is Your Oracle Ready?
TODAY’S PROVERB: An oracle is on the lips of the king—let his mouth never be treacherous in judgment. Proverbs 16:10, TLV
Chapter 16 — another delicious feast of knowledge and insights for us to savor and digest. It’s a familiar theme, the condition of our heart — our intentions and motives. Which is all the more important during this season of mixed and emotional messages everywhere we look. Before we delve into today’s verse, I felt led to give us something to nibble on:
The condition of our heart matters. The ideas we allow into our mind affects the condition of our heart. The ideas we entertain will change our heart.
SOMETHING THE LORD SHOWED ME A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, THAT SEEMS MORE RELEVANT TODAY.
Today’s proverb is part of a pericope (vss. 10-15), that we might want to “blink” past. Last time I checked, I wasn’t made queen of any realm, how about you?
However, here’s a hint when we run into those “kingly” proverbs: Don’t blink past them. They hold relevant insights for anyone who parents, manages, supervises, teaches, mentors — well, you get the idea. Anyone responsible for others will benefit from the kingly proverbs.
“Kings” and “Queens” Pay Attention
Our “kingdoms” require wise stewardship with wholesome support and wise counselors. In both business and relational situations, searching the kingly proverbs will provide valuable knowledge.
And, if we are not quite kings or queens, we are in training. Learning the attributes of a wise leader — and not-so-wise leader — is always prudent.
We may never have a large kingdom, but we may be a trusted advisor to one who does. How ever large our empire, we can be a wise leader.
As wisdom enters our heart, it will be our pleasure to know things (Proverbs 2:10). We will give wise counsel because the Spirit of the Living GOD has been given reign in our heart and mind. And that’s worth more than any kingdom.
May our kingdom grow wisely, my friends.
