Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 16:31

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Gray hair a crown of glory? Really?

TODAY’S PROVERB: Gray hair is a crown of glory, found on the path of righteousness. Proverbs 16:31, TLV

The appearance of gray hair on our heads is no guarantee that wisdom will simply emanate from us. Sigh. That was rather disappointing news for me, especially as more and more of those silver strands glisten in the mirror.

What is guaranteed for those on the path of righteousness is a crown of glory hard-won by a Savior who gave His life for us.

We only wear this crown of glory when we make our own hard-won wise life decisions. Not because our salvation depends upon it, but because we choose to make those decisions out of love and respect for our Heavenly Father.

And those crowns of glory? I was thinking. We also have another choice. To keep them or give them to the One who sacrificed it all.

“. . . And they throw their crowns down before the throne, chanting,
Worthy are You, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
For You created all things,
    and because of Your will
    they existed and were created!”

REVELATION 4:10B-11

Giving our Heavenly Father and His Son our crowns is a wise thing, don’t you think? And, I’m sure He’ll let us keep the gray hair.

May we wear our gray well, my friends.
