Today’s Blog: Stop the Flood

TODAY’S PROVERB: The beginning of strife is like letting out water—so stop a quarrel before it breaks out. Proverbs 17:14, TLV

Are there people in your life that test you? Who have the propensity to dance on our last nerve? And, they know just the right buttons to push that release anger, depression, and any insecurity we thought we’d dealt with.

On the 13th we spoke about how arrogance produces strife (Proverbs 13:10). I used a lightening bolt to depict strife, but in reality, we have the power to stop that strife in our own life. One way is by not allowing an argument to develop.

As we develop our discernment muscles, we will be able to spot the signs of a leak in the dam, before it breaks and floods us with emotions. Have you sensed those warnings to “not go there” but ignored them? When I do that, inevitably the dam breaks and the result is a mess.

What are ways that keep us from heeding that discernment? One way is our need to be right — to point out that person’s arrogance, or error. Most likely, we’ve already tried this way, but the results are always the same: loss of time, a waste of emotions, and no real resolution happened.

Stop the flood. Step away from the temptation to argue it out.

In my opinion, for what it’s worth, unless you have a burning bush communique from ADONAI Himself, don’t engage. Stop the flood before it begins.

May we step away from quarrels, my friends.
