Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 17:17

Can you see the fingerprints of God’s love?

TODAY’S PROVERB: A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17

I love this passage. It reminds us of who we were and who we are.

How grateful I am for good, faithful friends. They are the fingerprints of my Heavenly Father’s love in my life. Friends, really good friends, see us as who we are today and who we can be.

Siblings, on the other hand, carry our family history — the good and bad. They fill a unique place in our heart. They are the clues to the mysteries of why we do what we do.

Through the insights of friends and family we learn how to be better people. They demonstrate God’s love and direction in our life. And that’s a good thing.

Cherish both friends and family, my friends.

How true this is in my life! Friends stand with me, but I am now three years with no sibling. But He knows and gives me peace.

Priscilla, I’m so sorry for your loss. Having lost my one sister, I can’t even imagine losing all three.

Since my siblings are long gone, God, in His Wisdom, saw fit to bring an old, old, OLD friend back into my life recently. We had been friends/neighbors from toddler-hood, had shared an apartment in NYC in our 20s, and then lost touch for well over forty years. It is so wonderful to re-discover our friendship that is so akin to that of a sibling. So many memories and so many new stories to share. Hope I will someday see her again, but in the meantime, lengthy telephone conversations and email exchanges fill a huge gap! We have found that we never forgot each other and still felt strongly connected even in the absence of real communication. And we also share memories like those who have grown up in the same household. God always fills our needs.

OH! I love this story. Sounds like something Angie would write. What a sweet blessing, Clyde. I love it!
