Today’s Blog: Who are We?
TODAY’S PROVERB: A crucible is for silver and a furnace is for gold, but Adonai tests the heart. Proverbs 17:3, TLV
What a great chapter! It’s filled with a delicious and nutritious feast for our spirit and soul. From family to business to justice to building our character, there is so much to choose from. What is GOD showing you today?
The verse I chose is a familiar one. In fact, Proverbs has two other verses that talk about refinement and testing (Proverbs 25:4; 27:21). But, one morning the LORD took this passage, spun it around, and let me see it from a different perspective.
It was a sweet reminder that He knows who we are. He created us and filled us with a portion of His passions. Some of us carry His passion for salvation. Others His creativity. And, others His compassion. So many other parts of Him. What has He entrusted to you?
He has entrusted His heart within us. Isn’t that incredible?
Raw materials
But, we are raw material, unrefined — not always ready to be used by Him in this world. He must prepare us for the next great calling He has for us in our life. He will test us to see if we’re ready. And He can’t wait!
Like a furnace or crucible for precious metals, tests rid us of the dross and impurities. As these burn and melt away, we see who we are — who we were created to be. It’s not fun — sometimes it’s downright painful — but it’s a part of developing us into real people. His people.
What touched my heart is this: He knows us because He created us. Through this refining process, He’s helping us get to know our true selves. He’s not making us into something we’re not — He’s making us into the person we always were.
May we know who GOD created us to be, my friends
