Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 18:3

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Do we have a role in the fight against wickedness?

TODAY’S PROVERB: When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with dishonor comes disgrace.  Proverbs 18:3

Since the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began shutting down or fining manufacturing plants, we don’t really see those black clouds of pollution like we did when I was growing up. Today’s proverb reminds me of those ominous hazes. Wickedness can roll into our lives and families and towns and bring with it a contempt for what is holy. It dishonors the icons of the faithful at any opportunity.

When the foundation of our beliefs are ridiculed in the name of political correctness, then we must find our role in cleaning it up. Our role might be:

  • as an intercessor
  • as a community leader
  • as a neighborhood leader
  • as an elected official
  • as a teacher

Whatever our Heavenly Father shows us, begin learning how to fill that role.

When issues begin to divide the children of the Most High, we must pause and remember — we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with principalities. That wickedness is a principality and those unwitting souls who allow it jurisdiction in their lives need our prayers.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

Remember who the enemy is, my friends.
