Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 20:15

Today’s Blog: Provide a Piece of the Puzzle for Others

TODAY’S PROVERB: There is gold and abundance of rubies, but lips that speak knowledge are precious. Proverbs 20:15, TLV

There’s just something about knowing the answer to someone’s question, isn’t there? The Bible has many passages about those good feelings, and many of them are equated to precious metals and stones like today’s proverb (e.g., Proverbs 25:11). Why is that?

I suppose the obvious is that what precious metals and stones are to wealth, wisdom and knowledge is to our emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing. It’s the wealth that can’t be lost, stolen, or destroyed (Matthew 6:19-21).

Gold is considered valuable because it is the more stable of the precious metals and has been and is still used as currency. It has a low enough melting point that it can be smelted. Gold is rare, but not impossible to find. It is relatively non-reactive, so it won’t rust or explode when exposed to different substances.

This verse speaks of rubies. Did you know the ruby is the most valuable of the colored gemstones? Second in overall value to diamonds. Cultures have treasured them and consider them as representations of love, passion, and power.

Let’s use those descriptions as analogies to today’s proverb

Being able to respond to questions with fitly spoken words requires years of preparation. We mine for knowledge, and carefully pick through the dross of this world to find GOD’s pure truth. By screening this knowledge through His word, we find the real nuggets. When the knowledge is refined through the fires of experience, we can present to others the beauty of GOD’s wisdom and truth.

Each day we walk this wisdom’s journey, we mine, pick, chisel, and shape the wealth of knowledge into a gem that others will admire and desire.

We do all this because first, our Heavenly Father has invited us to — it is His gift to us. And second, He wants us to share His wealth with others.

When we encounter those who puzzle over a question or mystery, we can provide a piece of the puzzle that points them to the answer — our Dad.

That’s a precious piece of the puzzle.

May we mine for the true wealth, my friends.

DO YOU MINE FOR GOD’S SPIRITUAL GOLD AND RUBIES? HOW HAVE YOU SHARED THE WEALTH WITH OTHERS?
I’M NOT A JEWELRY PERSON. I LOVE MY WEDDING RINGS, BUT HAVE TO BE IN THE RIGHT MOOD TO WEAR MORE THAN THAT. HOWEVER, I WANT TO “WEAR” AS MUCH OF OUR FATHER’S WEALTH AS I CAN. THANKS FOR STOPPING BY. PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND INSIGHTS. APPRECIATE THE SHARES — IT HELPS GET OUT THE WORD. THANKS AGAIN AND GOD BLESS.
