Today’s Blog: What About Free Will?
TODAY’S PROVERB: A king’s heart is like a stream of water in the hand of Adonai; He directs it wherever He wants. Proverbs 21:1,TLV
Very soon the ads and debates will flood our media. Promises and accusations will seem sincere and people’s hearts will either be convinced or cynical. Who will sit in the White House? Senate? Halls of Justice? Only God knows.
And that’s the point. He knows. Our heavenly Father has the unenviable job of maintaining our ability to choose, but making sure all goes as planned. He can do this because He’s actually already seen our future played out.
That’s comforting. And sometimes a bit confusing. Do we just not pay attention to the issues? Or not vote? That would be at the least foolish, at the worst, rude. You see, the right to choose to follow the will of the Lord, to choose to be obedient, is sacred.
Is there an easier way?
Honestly, sometimes I wish He would just tell me what to do and when and how. But, then I would never grow spiritually, emotionally. So, no, there is no easier way.
In the weeks and months ahead, when the inevitable ads and news shows and social media posts come crashing in, pray for an extra measure of discernment. Pray. Vote. Be grateful that we live in a country where we can. Flaws and all. Because, it is a precious gift.
May we flow with the Holy Spirit’s discernment, my friends.
