Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 21:25-26

The wisdom of work

TODAY’S PROVERB: A slacker’s craving will kill him, because his hands refuse to work. All day long he craves greedily, yet the righteous one gives and does not hold back. Proverbs 21:25-26, TLV

The wisdom of work — of earning money — is to live within our means, prudently plan for the future, and be able to give back to the LORD and others. There’s something simple about that. Honorable.

Knowing the value of our effort and our commitment to our family, faith family, and those who need help from time to time, keep things in perspective. Knowing what we have, even our jobs, is a gift from our Heavenly Father, that keeps us humble and grateful.

If we get lost in those unfulfilled cravings, it causes us to devalue the treasures before us. Worry sets in when we think we have to strive for what we believe we need. Resentment creeps into our hearts and blinds us to the blessings all around us. Not a good thing.

If we remember what Jesus said about worrying and fretting, we gain nothing — we lose our peace.

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the pagans eagerly pursue all these things; yet your Father in heaven knows that you need all these.”

YESHUA (JESUS), MATTHEW 6:31-32

But, when we trust, and don’t hold back, when we live wisely and give wisely, we can keep greed and worry at bay. And that is a good thing.

May we be diligent to seek GOD’s wisdom of work, my friends.
