Preserve the covenant . . .

TODAY’S PROVERB: …to deliver you from a seducing woman—a wayward wife with seductive words, who forsakes the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. Proverbs 2:16-17

Infidelity. The last few generations tend to think infidelity was something they created. For certain they have developed it into an art form using film, music, literature, and now, social media.

Throughout Scripture and history, women have played as much of a role in this sin as men. Honestly, as women, we should know better.

These days, women tend to look at fornication and adultery as their rights — their choice. We can justify and defend all we want, but the truth is that it all boils down to this: our choice is whether we sin or don’t sin.

Not a popular thing to say.

There’s nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9). Humanity has been sinning since the Garden. And infidelity has the same patterns and outcomes as it did thousands of years ago. It defiles our souls, bodies, relationships, communities, and our relationship with GOD.

For those who chose to sin and feel the Holy Spirit’s conviction. A marriage restored can be a powerful witness on behalf of God’s way. Only He can do that and we can be grateful for a Heavenly Father who seeks to heal and build.

In each generation we have a choice to be a voice of righteousness, or a clarion of sin. We can speak in many ways: publicly and by lifestyle.

Our marriages can be examples of love and joy or embarrassment and pain. Our most influential audience — those who witness in practice what we’re saying about fidelity — are our children.

Do our children believe what we preach? Do they see it lived out at home?

If the coming generations have seen and experienced the joy and wonder of fidelity, they are much more likely to look for that standard for themselves. They’re more likely to support and promote it, too. Why? Because they lived the truth with us. And that’s a precious thing.

May our voices be heard in this and coming generations, my friends.
