Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 26:7

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Today’s Blog: Walking Authentically

TODAY’S PROVERB: Like a lame man’s legs that hang limp, so is a proverb in a fool’s mouth. Proverbs 26:7, TLV

Just a reminder: a fool is someone who says there is no GOD (Psalm 14:1; 53:2). It doesn’t matter how a fool tries to imitate wisdom, GOD’s wisdom will not have “legs” in their journey. A fool has no authenticity because they mimic not emulate. That’s why it’s so important to live authentically in our Wisdom’s Journey.

To be authentic is to be:

  • REAL: we are who we say we are — which means we’re careful with our words.
  • TRUE: we are transparent and honest, especially when we make mistakes.
  • CONFORMED: we conform to GOD’s wisdom by living it each day.
  • TRANSFORMED: we’re able to impact others with GOD’s word because it transforms us.

Remember the seven brothers Sceva who tried to cast out demons?

But some traveling Jewish exorcists also tried to invoke the name of the Lord Yeshua, saying, “I charge you by the Yeshua whom Paul preaches.”  Seven sons of a Jewish ruling kohen named Sceva were doing this.  But the evil spirit answered them, “I know Yeshua and I know about Paul, but who are you?” Then the man with the evil spirit sprang at them, subduing and overpowering all of them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

ACTS 19:13-16, TLV

The brothers were fools. They were not authentic Jesus-followers.

So, what do we learn from all this?

First, if we are authentic, we should be able to spot a counterfeit. Which, quite frankly, will save us a lot of heartache.

Second, when we live an authentic life, we can do great exploits in His Name. Even if it’s simply having the courage to speak a word the LORD gives you for the cashier at the grocery store.

Know that others watch us. When our “legs” work, people will be drawn to us and follow us to their Messiah and Savior. How exciting to add more brothers and sisters to GOD’s kingdom and this Wisdom’s Journey.

May we live authentic lives, my friends.
