Is your dream deferred?

TODAY’S PROVERB: Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, whoever takes care of his master will be honored. Proverbs 27:18

Tending to the stewardship of someone else’s wealth can be a thankless job at times. Building others’ dreams while our own languish in a corner of our hearts can be discouraging.

As employees, we can feel lost in the melee of activity and purposes of the company we work for. We may feel like a faceless drone, when we know there is more to us. That our Heavenly Father is the Creator of the Universe, so we should, after all, be more, right?

If you are parents of children still at home, we sometimes have to put the dreams of our youth on hold. As we invest in raising Godly human beings, our other passions may seem lost in homework, diapers, little league and ballet practices, and sleepless nights waiting for teenagers to return home. It’s okay to think about those passions and dreams even when there is no time or resources to move forward in them.

For those of us who are under the “gray ceiling,” those who are older and wear the crown of gray hair, we may feel we’re too old for those passions and dreams to revive. We may feel our time of relevance is over.

Perhaps we feel our hope for that dream has too often been deferred (Proverbs 13:12).

My friends, our Heavenly Father sees. He knows. He has not forgotten us. He will help sustain our hope. He will strengthen us as we serve others. He will feed us the fruit of our labors in this season.

Just know that the Giver of those passions and dreams can hold them safely until the set time comes for them to be activated or reactivated — no matter what the age.

May we eat the fruit of this season and be satisfied, my friends. And know that the set time will come.
