Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 28:10

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Are you smarter than evil?

TODAY’S PROVERB: One who leads the upright astray along an evil path will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit good. Proverbs 28:10

We now know that those folks that lead the innocent onto the wrong path are under the influence of something evil (Ephesians 6:12). This evil has had lots of practice leading others astray.

Evil thinks a lot of itself. It thinks it can fool the innocent and trick them into following it into disaster.

Evil is full of itself–so much so it can inadvertently reveal its hiding places.

Although evil may try to lead us down the path of destruction, our Heavenly Father looks after His own. We may run into real challenges and horrible tribulations, but the eternal part of us that belongs to Him will always be rescued.

We don’t have to be smarter than evil, we have to trust in our Heavenly Father.

When we trust in the LORD with all our heart and lean not on our own cleverness or abilities, then He will direct our paths. We can avoid the pitfalls. (Proverbs 3:5-6) And even if we stumble and fall, He’s there to rescue us from those mishaps.

One of the most profound stories in Scriptures is the story of Joseph. He went from envied son, to slave, to the second most powerful man in Egypt to saving the lives of millions — including his family. Our lesson is to live in the reality that this is the GOD we serve. We may not be exempt from tribulations (James 1:12), but who we are as His children will not be destroyed, we can even have peace! (John 16:33)

What was designed for evil, what was designed to destroy us, we can come away with inheriting good. (Genesis 50:20) That’s pretty amazing, don’t you think?

May we be smart enough to trust Him completely, my friends.
