Today’s Blog: Stingy or Frugal?
TODAY’S PROVERB: A stingy man chases after riches, but does not know that poverty will overtake him. Proverbs 28:22, TLV
One thing I’ve learned over the years, stinginess is not being frugal or wise. It is a lack in one’s character that comes from a place of fear and/or greed. Similarly, there are many types of poverty — not just the lack of riches or material things. Poverty of spirit, wisdom, faith, compassion, and love are riches that many souls can lack.
I believe that our Heavenly Father gives some people riches — the material type — because they have the mantle to be good stewards. As followers of Messiah, those who are wealthy can make a difference in the Kingdom by their generosity. King David had much wealth, but he blessed those he governed.
So, if someone doesn’t have GOD’s anointing for wealth, and they continue to chase after it, they are most likely expending a lot of energy to achieve what they weren’t meant to attain. Likewise, if they are expending what our Father has given them, then poverty will certainly overtake them.
In the same way, when we’re stingy with gratitude, grace, compassion, mercy, or love because we think it costs us too much, we clog up the conduit of the “riches” that come from the heart of GOD.
When we are content with our calling in life there are riches beyond measure — more than enough to give away. That’s the type of riches we all want.
May our hearts be grateful for the riches our Father has given us, my friends.
