Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 3:12

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Reproved lately?

TODAY’S PROVERBS: For ADONAI loves those He reproves even as a father, the son in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:12, TLV

I remember the one of the first times I “reproved” our daughter. She was a toddler and was moving close to a hot oven. [NOTE: back then when you turned on ovens, they were hot on the outside, too.]

Reprove is defined as: to scold or correct usually gently or with kindly intent.

I probably said something like, “HOT. That’s hot, sweetie.”

She looked at me with those big blue-green eyes, and stopped what she was doing, then smiled, and changed direction.

Now, because she wasn’t even two yet, that reprove didn’t provide a life-changing event. It was simply a momentary change in direction.

Unfortunately, she had to experience that hot oven personally. But, the moment she cried in pain, I was there to comfort her and minister to her boo-boo.

How much more is our Heavenly Father going to do the same for us. How I want to always change with the reprove and not experience the burns of life. But either way, our Daddy is there to love, comfort, and teach us. Don’t you love that?

May we learn with the reprove, my friends.
