Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 3:19-20

masteroliveWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

A Blink Proverb with Tools.

TODAY’S PROVERB: By wisdom Adonai founded the earth. By understanding He established the heavens. By His knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds drip dew. Proverbs 3:19-20

These verses might be considered “blink”* Proverbs, but I think it’s important to stop and settle here today — at least for me. Interspersed throughout the book of Proverbs are these reminders of the awesomeness of our Heavenly Father.

We know He loves that we call Him Abba — Hebrew for Daddy (Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6). He loves that we try to follow Him and seek His wisdom. He loves the intimacy we’re developing together with Him. However, it’s healthy to be regularly reminded that our Daddy is GOD. That He is the Creator of the Universe.

Remembering this regularly puts us and what goes on around us into perspective.

What I also love about this particular reminder is the “tools” the Creator of the Universe used to create this Universe are the same tools He gives us to use: Wisdom, Understanding, and Knowledge. That’s pretty amazing don’t you think?

Granted, we’re not using the GOD-sized versions, more like His kid-sized versions. Nevertheless, He’s giving us the opportunity to “create” like He does.

Come on, you have to admit, that’s pretty cool!

So, whether we create sonnets, stories, families, buildings, gardens, paintings, Bible studies, whatever our Father has gifted us to do, know that He has given us the tools and instructions in how to use them. We just have to seek Him and His word — like living Proverbs.

May we be reminded of His awesomeness and the tools He gives us each day to use, my friends.

*A “blink” proverb is a proverb that on the surface, we don’t believe applies to us or has any relevance for today. However, on closer reflection, there are significant insights and wisdom for us. Thanks to Dr. Raleigh Washington for the great analogy.
