Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 4:15

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Are shortcuts worth it?

TODAY’S PROVERB: Avoid it—do not travel on it—turn away from it and pass by. Proverbs 4:15, TLV

Have you ever taken a shortcut that ended up taking more time than if you’d stuck with the original way? Shortcuts can involve driving, sewing, assembling something, cooking, or really important things like relationships. I don’t know about you, but I sure have. And, it has been too many times to count, unfortunately.

Shortcuts are effective only when we truly know the path — when we’ve traveled it safely. Because if the territory is unfamiliar we can land in places we don’t want to be.

When we keep our eyes on the path our Heavenly Father has for us — even when it seems to take longer than we want — we avoid the unnecessary pitfalls. Aren’t there enough challenges in our life? Let’s bypass the avoidable ones.

May we travel the path GOD has chosen for us, my friends.
