Wisdom’s Journey: Proverbs 4:7

Terri GillespieWisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs

Today’s Blog: It’s all about relationship!

TODAY’S PROVERB: Wisdom is supreme—acquire wisdom! With all your acquisitions, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7, TLV

Wisdom is supreme! Why? Because wisdom begins with GOD. His willingness to share secrets of the universe — which He created, by the way — with mere humans. Made of dirt.

“The fear of Adonai is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

KING SOLOMON, PROVERBS 1:7, TLV

That’s where we begin to understand the wonder of our Heavenly Father.

From there, we can acquire this wisdom with our investment in reading, studying, and living His word. Why do we do this? Is this how we earn wisdom? Not in the sense of this world’s understanding. You know, that formulaic approach of: If I do this, then God will bless and prosper me.

No. This was and always will be about relationship. That clumsy, messy, amazing thing we call love.

When I first realized that Bob could be more than a friend, that all this time he was a treasure I hadn’t realized, all I wanted to do is spend time with him. If we weren’t together, we were talking on the phone. No cells back then either. It was one line for a family of seven in my house. If I couldn’t talk with him, I would become anxious.

Today, 45 years later, I still learn new things about him all the time. And he knows me like no other human being.

That type of relationship. That type of investment. We learn and live our Father’s word because we love Him above all else. All the other benefits of His love are fudge icing on brownies.

This world needs that type of love. Everyone hungry for true love will be drawn to Him through us. We can be vessels of His Light and love. How amazing is that!

May we acquire wisdom with all we have, my friends.
