When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You established—what is man, that You are mindful of him? And the son of man, that You care for him? Psalm 8:4-5[3-4], TLV

Have you ever stargazed? Marveled at God’s handiwork and the shear magnitude of His creation? Then, looked at us and our concerns. What to fix for dinner. Who offended us. Our needs list longer than a child’s list to Santa Claus. Why would God be mindful of us? How are we worth the trouble?

Simple answer: we are His children.

Let’s act like it . . .

Before we get all haughty and adopt a sense of entitlement about being the Creator of the Universe’s kids, let’s remember who our big Brother is. It was only because of Him we are the sons and daughters of the Most High. Because of Yeshua’s sacrifice — His suffering and death.

When we emulate our big Brother, we begin to understand the true wonder of being a child of this incredible Creator. It’s simple, yes? In principle, but not in follow-through. We’ll be living it out via trial and error our whole lives. But, that’s okay. It’s the living it out that is meaningful.

One of those ways is from time to time, to look up and around us. Consider the works of our Father’s hands and marvel at His wonders! Sigh. Yes, what a wonder!
