Daily Word: A New Heart, Ezekiel 36:26

Moreover I will give you a new heart. I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the stony heart from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.  Ezekiel 36:26, TLV

A New Heart.   Remember that old song, “What the world needs now, is love sweet love”? Hmm. I kind of agree, but to have a true sacrificial love, it takes a certain type of heart. A heart that comes from the Creator of the Universe — our Father.

These days even believers’ hearts have turned stone-like. In our fervor to be “righteous” we can be judgmental toward those who aren’t or even toward those who aren’t precisely likeminded.

I will put My Ruach [Spirit] within you. Then I will cause you to walk in My laws, so you will keep My rulings and do them.  (vs. 27, TLV)

One of the things we have to remember is that our job is to: Love GOD and Love our Neighbor. We can speak the truth when the Holy Spirit moves us — which isn’t necessarily the same as righteous indignation. It is the Holy Spirit that changes hearts. Still, we are sowers of truth seeds (Matthew 13:1-8).

But others fell on good soil and were producing fruit. They yielded a crop—some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.   (Matthew 13:8, TLV)

If a heart is still stony, then the seeds won’t grow and bear fruit. But as we “toss” those seeds, know that God’s truth is the greatest form of love. And only He can change that rock into good soil.
