Rejoice in the Lord always—again I will say, rejoice! Philippians 4:4, TLV

Drop the Mic!   Rejoice! There are those “drop the mic” verses in the Bible — this is one of them. What more can you say except, how do we rejoice in the Lord always? We choose to. And that begins with gratitude. Gratitude is an act of joy.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
(Chorus to Count Your Blessings by Johnson Oatman, Jr., 1897)

Remember that little song we sang as kids. It may be cute, but the words are a good reminder of a way we can reach a place of gratitude. When we are in a place of gratitude — no matter our circumstances — we’re better able to rejoice for what God has already done and then trust that He is who He says He is. He is our Father who loves us and is there for us.

Choose joy. Remember our blessings. Then we are in the state of rejoicing. Dropping the mic now.
