…now in the streets, now in the squares, at every corner she lurks. Proverbs 7:12, TLV

Focus.     I hope you’ll give me a bit of poetic license here. Today’s selection is within the context of the “seducing woman” (Proverbs 7:5). Which, of course, implies a sexual issue — definitely a sinful issue. But I selected this passage because of the odd behavior of the “seducing woman.”

On the surface it seems she had no focus—running here and there.

Focus is about centering our attention, a place of concentration. It is a state or condition that enables us to have a clear perception or understanding of the recipient of that focus.

Today’s excerpt depicts this woman as on the prowl for her next victim. Yet, I sense that frenetic desperation that comes from a troubled mind. A mind that has no peace.

Daily Focus

Right now, I have several “irons” in the fire. All of them seem valuable — many of them I know are things our Father said to do. However, it’s clear, I cannot possibly focus on all of them. Sigh.

So, rather than running to and fro, spending more and more time on things that are worthy, but maybe not God-ordained, I need to stop and listen. Because the more I “to and fro” the less peace I have. And that’s not where I want to be.

Think More About It

How about you? Has the Holy Spirit impressed upon you that your focus is scattered—divided? What do you know for certain you are called to do?

Please share what that is, and why you believe He has given you this directive.

Until tomorrow, may we focus on God’s focus, my friends.

As we pray for Israel, it’s difficult to know where to focus on prayers. Perhaps we feel we’re not making a difference because what can a prayer from our single heart do in the grand scheme of things?

When we focus on what we’re called to do, we carry the strength of God. Agreeing in prayer with other saints who are called to that same focus increases the anointing—even if we don’t know who those saints are.

So, my friends, continue to pray as God leads you and know that focus is not done in vain. God bless you!
