Daily Word: GOD’s Justice is Bigger than Us. Proverbs 29:7

A righteous person considers justice for the poor. The wicked one has no such concern. Proverbs 29:7, TLV

GOD’s Justice is Bigger than Us.    The book of Proverbs is big on justice. Why? Because justice is important to the Creator of the Universe — our Father. In fact, justice is the fruit of a righteous person. Proverbs 21:3 reminds us that doing righteousness and justice is more important than sacrifice in GOD’s eyes. His justice applies to the poor or wealthy, or anyone in between.

“Do not follow a crowd to do evil. Nor are you to testify in a case, to follow a crowd and pervert justice. On the other hand, nor should you takes sides with a poor man in his case.” Exodus 23:2-3, TLV

Justice brings order to GOD’s kingdom. He cannot be bribed. He gives mercy because He can see into our hearts and knows that the act of mercy can change lives.

When humanity tries to employ their own version of GOD’s justice, it corrupts the system. Giving mercy for our own purposes destabilizes the law and incites fear and distrust in those governing and protecting us.

In today’s proverb, the righteous are protectors of the poor to ensure they are treated fairly. In our world, those that seek to corrupt GOD’s kingdom, manipulate the poor and wealthy by giving mercy and favors without responsibility.

As the Exodus passage above makes clear, favoring the poor or the wealthy corrupts justice.

Justice is Big

True justice is big. We’re so small in comparison. Why would we ever assume that our way is better than the Creator’s way? Kind of silly, isn’t it?

It’s a fine line to walk for those in the justice system. To perform these tasks without GOD’s wisdom, knowledge, discernment, and understanding seems impossible.

Therefore, first of all I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made on behalf of all people—for kings and all who are in authority—so we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and respectfulness.  1 Timothy 2:1-2, TLV

That’s why we should pray for those who “rule” over us. And remember that bias for wealthy or poor is still bias. Righteousness should always be the foundation of justice.

May righteousness rule, my friends.
