I love those who love me. Those who earnestly seek me find me. Proverbs 8:17, TLV

Lose Your Keys?     Until I learned the secret, I used to misplace my keys. A lot. Without those keys, I couldn’t drive my car or get in and out of my home. Without the keys my home was unsecure— vulnerable.

Obviously, eventually I would find them, but there was usually some type of drama until I did. Or worse, I would be late for an appointment and have to say why. For those of you who know me, I hate being late. I usually arrive early. If I arrive on time, then it feels to me like I arrived late.

The secret to not losing my keys?

The solution was profoundly simple. I only have ONE place to store them. Not wherever I lay them down. It’s rare that I misplace them today which reduces the drama in my life. Which makes me and everyone around me quite happy.

It made me think about this proverb. Earnestly seek wisdom. Do we seek wisdom with the same fervency as we seek our keys?

Wisdom is more than the key to an abundant life of faith. It’s the vehicle to an ongoing relationship with the Creator of the Universe — our Heavenly Father.

Relationship with Our Keys?

Do we love our keys? We might like our car or our home, but we don’t generally have affection for our keys. They are a means of entry to what we care about.

I think, perhaps, we sometimes think of wisdom as our keys — a means of entry into GOD’s wisdom. But His wisdom we live each day is more than a key. It’s the journey itself. Living wisdom is the key, vehicle, GPS, fuel, maintenance, and means to the journey of this life.

Wisdom’s Appointment

Chapter 8 of Proverbs is so elegantly written. It’s a picturesque peek into wisdom’s appointment in the universe and her role in GOD’s plan for us. Wisdom is an eyewitness to creation and shares her awe of our amazing Father. It’s pretty powerful that our instructor in wisdom was with GOD when He created the universe.

So, seeking wisdom earnestly means we respect GOD’s wisdom enough to pursue her — every day we can. And guess what, we know right where to find her.
