Daily Word: Mobile Refuge, Psalm 46:2 [1]

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:2 [1] TLV

Mobile Refuge.  Anyone out there who remembers the credit card commercial slogan, “Don’t leave home without it!”? That was the first thought I had reading today’s verse early this morning. Why would we forget our refuge and strength when we leave the comforts of our controlled, safe havens? Because, we’ve left our comfortable, controlled, safe haven.

Therefore we will not fear,
though the earth change,
though the mountains topple into the heart of the seas,
though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at their swelling. Selah  (vss. 3-4 [2-3], TLV)

Except there is no such place as a perfectly controlled safe environment, unless it is with our Heavenly Father. Come what may.

ADONAI is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in Him, and I was helped. Therefore my heart leaps for joy, and I will praise Him with my song. (Psalm 28: 7, TLV)

When we became His redeemed children by the precious blood of our Messiah, our Father also gave us His Spirit. A part of Him that abides within us. Therefore, we cannot choose or forget to take Him with us. What we unfortunately can do — and I’m speaking to myself — is to ignore Him. To not seek Him first when the trials surface or attacks begin.

And we don’t have to leave home to choose to forget or remember. We can do that where we sit or lay down. So let’s choose to keep our strength and refuge mobile. Let’s choose to remember we never leave home without Him.

Shabbat Shalom!
