One with great rage will pay a penalty. For if you rescue him, you will have to do it again. Proverbs 19:19, TLV

Rabid Rage!    Rage isn’t just another word for anger. Rage turns anger into an uncontrollable behavior that can escalate into physical violence. The Latin root of rage is our word for rabies. Fortunately, we don’t put down crazy Uncle Bernie if he throws a lamp across the room. But the danger to victims is no joke.

In homes across the world, rage terrorizes families. Domestic abuse. Child abuse. With continued isolations, lockdowns, quarantines, joblessness due to the economy, domestic violence (including elder abuse) has increased — abusers and victims may be trapped together. The UN has described the worldwide increase in domestic abuse as a “shadow pandemic” alongside Covid-19. It is believed cases have increased by 20% during the lockdown.*

The tumult of emotional and physical violence is not something that can be managed. It’s mostly clean-up for the victims and witnesses — all with the hope it will never happen again.

When we “rescue” or cover up or make excuses for their actions, the penalty seems to fall on us.

Are We Really Rescuing?

But, are we really “rescuing” these souls? Is it really helping them when we keep them from paying the penalty for their actions?

If there is someone in your life that exhibits rage — especially physical violence — and you’re covering up for them, please seek help.**

GOD can deliver and restore someone who struggles with rage, but they must want help. If they experience the full penalty for their actions, then maybe they will seek the help they need.

Our Heavenly Father loves His children. He wants them set free. He’s standing by waiting.

Until tomorrow, please be safe. Be hopeful. Seek help, my friends. God bless and Shabbat shalom.

IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY TYPE OF PHYSICAL OR EMOTIONAL ABUSE, PLEASE SEEK HELP**. GOD BLESS YOU.
