Daily Word: Ready for Some Sparks? Proverbs 27:17

Terri GillespieDaily Word, Wisdom’s Journey Through Proverbs Leave a Comment

As iron sharpens iron, so a person sharpens the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17, TLV

Ready for Some Sparks?  If we are, if we’re truly ready to learn from one another, there are a few questions to ask ourselves. Ready?

Here we go:

  1. Do we trust one another as brothers and sisters of our Heavenly Father to be challenged to a deeper understanding of God’s truth?
  2. Have we sharpened our listening skills?
  3. Are we teachable, especially when  someone has lived a reality we only understand in theory? Allowing that person to share the depth of that experience and be silent?
  4. Can we see past the emotions of pride, guilt, or insecurity and allow a brother or sister to reveal our mistake or sin?
  5. Will we humble ourselves in compassion so that we can teach another what seems obvious to us?

Then we’re ready to be sharper than any two-edged sword. Together.
