For with wise advice you wage war and in many counselors, there is victory. Proverbs 24:6, TLV

Who Are Your Counselors?   We’ve all had “battles”. For most of us these battles aren’t fought on the ground, seas, or in the air. They are the wars we have within ourselves—like weight loss or gain—or with others or challenges.

Perhaps we’re in the fray right now. A great war — with relentless battles we keep losing. It all seems hopeless. There are precious souls struggling with depression from the loss of loved ones, illness, loneliness, being away from home. Others with financial woes that seem insurmountable. And the list goes on.

Just know, we are not alone. Our heavenly Father is with us. Because of the blood of the Lamb, Yeshua [Jesus] intercedes on our behalf. And within us, a piece of the Creator of the Universe — His Spirit — lives in us.

Does that mean that will always be enough? Sometimes, it’s not. But our Abba saw our need for that, too. His other kids — us — are here to support one another.

Depending upon the war/battle, we may need a group of counselors. Wise, mature, and experienced followers of Jesus. Ultimately, the decision to follow their counsel is between us and our Father, still having others with different perspectives and experiences can change the course of a war.

The types of counselors:

  • Generals. Those who are seasoned warriors. They have fought similar battles — and came out victorious. Seek their insights. Listen. Learn. Glean what is relevant to what the Holy Spirit may be tell us.
  • Strategists. Those who have both wisdom and discernment — who advise but does not order us what to do. If you have a strategist in your life, you are blessed. Again, listen, learn, and glean.
  • Reconnaissance or Recon. The intercessor. He/She “sees” in the heavenlies and prays accordingly from a higher perspective. A perspective we’re unable to see because we’re in the midst of the battlefield. An experienced intercessor may give counsel, but mostly they will simply tell you what they “see.”
  • Foot Soldier. The precious soul who isn’t afraid to fight right along your side. They may not understand the battle, but they will fight with you. Some may be experienced soldiers and accustomed to the rigors of battle. Others may be new but will learn as we do. Use discernment as to who we want with us, especially if they are reactive and not experienced spiritual warriors.

We aren’t alone. Whether our counselors are many or echad — The One — we don’t have to fight by ourselves.

May we rest in knowing, we are not alone, my friends.
