Yeshua said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35, TLV

Sometimes we have this hunger and thirst inside us — not an empty stomach or a parched throat — but deep in our soul. No food, no libation fills it, no matter how much we try.

Yeshua replied to her, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty. The water that I give him will become a fountain of water within him, springing up to eternal life!” John 4: 13-14, TLV

Imagine struggling with our “vessel,” dragging ourselves to what we think is the source of our relief — food, alcohol, drugs, sex, pornography, constant entertainment — and there sits our Messiah. He says what we’re reaching for will not truly satisfy us. What we really need only He can provide.

Will we reach for Him and what He has to offer? Or reach around Him to what we want?

What if we paused and looked away from what we usually run to, and look toward Him. Listen. Take His hand and walk away with Him. Sometimes, it seems too simple and yet, too difficult. It is both, but it is worth it! It is worth it!

Tonight begins the Biblical festival (Leviticus 23: 23-25) Yom Teruah — commonly known as Rosh HaShanah. The Day of Trumpets/Shofarot is a calling. A calling to atonement and redemption. A calling for a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father, all because of the atonement of His Son.

We can step away from the ugliness to a sweet beginning. He’s calling us.

L’Shanah Tovah U’Metukah! May you have a Sweet New Year — a new, sweet beginning.
