Let’s think about this. A mighty army is pressing down on the Children of Israel from behind. A great sea is before them. There are children, babies, women in a family way, grandparents. “Hold your peace?”

The Hebrew word for repent is “teshuvah,” which literally means to turn or return. The Greek “metanoiete,” is similar in that it is related to “nous,” as in changing the mind. I like the image of turning and returning.
