Today’s Blog: Seeking Honesty

TODAY’S PROVERB: Righteous lips are the delight of kings. He loves those who speak honestly. Proverbs 16:13, TLV

Today’s proverb, reminds me that I’ve been blessed with some amazing mentors and leaders in my life. People who saw me and my potential. People so incredibly wise they oozed knowledge that was practical as it was profound. As a youngster it stirred a passion in me to understand. As an adult, it created a hunger for deeper things of God.

Because of these leaders — these kings — my life’s journey has purpose.

Now, imagine being able to serve those leaders with the counsel of wisdom. To be there to share what decades of experience and study and knowledge have made us to be.

That’s why “kings” love surrounding themselves with righteous, honest people. When I managed a staff of 14 people, having wise counselors that I could trust was crucial to my work and sanity.

When someone of questionable character inserts themselves into a leader’s life, it can have serious, negative repercussions. Not just to the leader, but to those they influence.

This is why we need to be careful of who we allow into that inner circle in our life. Watch for fruit. If they have good and rotten fruit, then don’t allow them in the inner circle. They can still be part of our lives, but more as someone we counsel — not them to us.

Let us be followers of righteousness and honesty and wisdom. Who knows whom our Father will allow us to counsel.

May our lips speak honestly and wisely, my friends.
