Today’s Blog: Sweet to the Soul

TODAY’S PROVERB: Eat honey, my son, for it is good, and honeycomb is sweet to your taste. Likewise know that wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 24:13-14, TLV

I love honey. How about you? Not only is it delicious, but it has long been used for its healing qualities–internally and externally.* Not only does it have unique medicinal properties, but it also — when stored properly — has an extremely long shelf life.

Here are some fun facts:

  • Rubbing honey on scars can help remove them.
  • Stored honey has been excavated from Egyptian tombs and was still edible, thousands of years later. (Okay, who did they test that one on?)
  • Honey can help lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol.
  • Regular use can help lower our risks of getting infections.
  • Tummy problems? Honey and lemon can help with nausea and vomiting.
  • Need a good night’s sleep, try a tablespoon of honey before bedtime.
  • Honey can soothe mucus membranes which is helpful for coughs and some asthma.
  • A natural moisturizer, honey can be used for minimizing wrinkles, dandruff, acne, and those fine lines.

I love meditating on the similarities of wisdom’s many benefits and honey. Of course, one of the main reasons honey’s benefits work is because it is ingested daily.

Who knew that the analogy of wisdom being like honey would be so profound? I suppose that is a rhetorical question.

May wisdom be sweet to our soul, my friends.
